"I can't stop thanking God enough for saving my husband," said Mangala Sonwane, wife of Tulsidas Shankar Sonawane.

The 58-year-old Vashi resident was saved by a miracle when four coaches of a train passed over him, as he lay on his belly on the tracks.

Recovering

A visibly shaken Sonawane who is being treated for injuries on the head and back at the MGM Hospital in Vashi, told MiD DAY, "I am so lucky. I am not going to repeat my mistake."

He added, "I went completely blank for a moment. I thought I wouldn't survive when I saw the train come closer."

Narrow escape

Sonawane, who runs a hardware shop in APMC market, was crossing the tracks at Vashi station at 5.30 pm on Wednesday when the incident took place.

He flattened himself on the tracks and hoped for a miracle when he heard the motorman's horn.
The railway staff pulled him out after the train came to a halt.

He had survived with cuts and bruises on his body.

Doctors at MGM Hospital have kept him under observation for the next few days. But reports have ruled out internal or external damages to any of his organs.
