The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a police inspector attached to the Azad Maidan police station on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Inspector Yashwant Thorawade, who is infamous for having refused to assist additional commissioner of police Sadanand Date during the 26/11-terror attack, had been demanding a bribe of Rs 70,000 from an accused for helping him settle a case.

He claimed that he would have to pay a cut to his senior and to an assistant inspector involved in the case.
More arrests
In another case, the ACB arrested a CIDCO official Milind Bagul for demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from
businessman Pratyesh Deshmukh. Bagul is the chief of RPI in Ulhasnagar. Bagul was arrested with his friend Bhupendra Patil and two revolvers were also recovered from him.
Another police inspector, C S Mali of Bazarpeth police station in Kalyan, has been booked on the charges of corruption and will be produced in court tomorrow. According to the Thane ACB, Mali had adopted a new modus operandi to extort money.

He had arrested more than 50 men in a flat registration matter and was planning to make further arrests. He demanded Rs 1 lakh from Raju Ratilal Soma to avoid being arrested.
After negotiations, the bribe was settled at Rs 60,000. Officials informed that Mali was arrested in the past for accepting a bribe while he was posted at Ulhasnagar.
