Locals from Borivli, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Bandra among others complained that they have been receiving irregular water supply and were tired of the problem.
The problem, however, is not as simple as it looks. The BMC is in the process of replacing old pipes that are more than 80 years. And they have managed to complete just 30 per cent of it over the last four years.
An official from the water supply department said, "The problem lies in the water main that suffers leakage. Replacement of old pipes is a huge project that will take time."
