The life and times of close to 40 gangsters like Haji Mastan, Karim Lala, Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Rajan, Chhota Shakeel and Arun Gawli will be portrayed in Tomorrow, which is being produced by Ghulam Rabbani Khan.
The film indicates that Chhota Shakeel is responsible for the separation of Dawood and Rajan and shows Gawli challenging Dawood after his brother-in-law Ibrahim Parkar was killed.
Some of the locations used in the film are S Bridge at Byculla, where Rama Naik and Arun Gawli robbed pedestrians in the past and Pakmodia Street, where Dawood was born.
"I am trying to show real journalism on reel. We read these names in newspapers and see them on news channels everyday and now, you can see their lives on film," said Khan, who is the son of Padma-bhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
"The film has a social message too. It states that the Quran does not sanction the killing of people," said Vishnu Upadhayay, who has scripted and directed the film.
Seema Vishwas of Bandit Queen fame is in a lead role in the film, which is scheduled for an April release.
