With the growing concern about Swine flu and suspected cases of the diseases appearing in the country, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is urging everyone in the city to go vegetarian to avoid the flu.

PETA wants everyone to know that there's one simple way to prevent such outbreaks before they occur - Adopt a vegetarian diet, Chief Functionary of PETA, Anuradha Sawhney, said.

"Apart from simple washing and covering sneezes, simply refusing to eat meat is the best solution to such health crises," Sawhney said.

PETA today held a demonstration featuring a 'pig' in a doctor's coat and holding a stethoscope with nurses surrounding him. The nurses were holding placards which read, 'Prescription Against Swine Flu : Go Vegetarian."
"Meat has long been linked to heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer but disease-breeding factory farms could be the death of us all," PETA campaign coordinator Nikung Sharma said. The best way to protect our health - individually and globally is to go vegetarian, Sharma asserted.
