A 27-year-old villager from Murbad here has been arrested for allegedly shooting his cousin dead and later disposing of the body in a nullah, police said today PI Ashok Amble of Murbad police station told PTI that accused Nitesh Mhatre was arrested last night after he shot his kin Rajendra alias Nazeeb Anant Kalan (23) from point blank range on the night of February 11 over a land dispute.

Mhatre was arrested last night after Rajendra's body was recovered from a drain in Murbad following which the hunt for the killer began, he said.
Both the victim and the accused were residents of Navrivili village of Murbad.
The accused has been charged under sections 302 and 201 B of the IPC and various sections of the Arms Act, police said.
The dispute between the duo was regarding a sale of plot to Mhatre for Rs 20.36 lakhs by the victim. Mhatre had already made a part payment of Rs 5 lakh for the purchase but Rajendra's continuous demand for the balance annoyed him following which he decided to kill him.
