BMC confirms 330 infections; state registers marginal rise in daily cases

After witnessing a downward trend in the test positivity rate (TPR), Mumbai on Wednesday saw the figure rise to 0.95 per cent from 0.78 per cent the day before. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) report, the city registered a significant spike in daily COVID-19 cases, at 330. On Tuesday, the civic body had confirmed 228 new Coronavirus infections.

Mumbai also registered a rise in newly confirmed COVID-19 fatalities. On Wednesday, the BMC confirmed five deaths, up from three reported a day before.

Of the five deceased patients, three had comorbidities. While two of the deceased patients were in the age group of 40-59 years, the three others were senior citizens.
The doubling rate, however, improved to 1,642 days.
The recovery rate of COVID-19 infection in the city remained constant at 97 per cent. On Wednesday, 378 more patients recovered and were discharged across the city.
The Maharashtra health department registered a marginal rise in daily cases across the state, but the number of fresh deaths dropped. The state reported 1,193 new cases and 39 fatalities.
The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. A total of 1,519 patients recovered and were discharged on Wednesday. Currently, the state has 15,119 active cases.
10 deaths in MMR
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new COVID-19 cases. According to the state health department report, the MMR reported 599 cases, including the ones from Mumbai.
With 52 new cases, the Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR after Mumbai. Navi Mumbai recorded 38 cases, Panvel 33, Raigad 26 and Vasai-Virar 26.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 10 deaths, including six in Kalyan-Dombivli, two in the Thane Municipal Corporation, and one each in Raigad and Ulhasnagar.
