For the second consecutive day, Mumbai saw a drop in daily COVID-19 cases and recorded 461 on Tuesday. However, the state continues to see more than 3,000 cases, with 3,663 fresh ones recorded on Tuesday, taking the total to 20.71 lakh.

The state’s recovery rate too has dropped over the last few days and now stands at 95.66 per cent with 2,700 patients discharged across Maharashtra on Monday. Mumbai’s recovery rate also stands at 94 per cent while the doubling rate has dropped, owing to increase in the number of cases in the last few days, to 445 days. The city’s daily growth rate over the past one week has been 0.16 per cent as the total count now stands at 3.15 lakh cases. The city has 5,649 ongoing cases.
The mortality rate of the state stands at 2.49 per cent. The number of deaths due to other causes in Maharashtra has been 1,182 till now. These deaths are of patients who tested positive and then later tested negative but died due to other complications. Meanwhile, a total of 1.53 crore laboratory samples have been collected across the state, out of which 20.71 lakh have tested positive with a 13.45 per cent positivity ratio.
Of the 39 fresh deaths reported in the state, Nagpur led with five. However, 11 deaths were reported in MMR with Thane recording four, followed by Mumbai with three and Ulhasnagar Corporation area two deaths. One death each was recorded in Thane Municipal Corporation area and Navi Mumbai.
Civic officials said that all the three patients who died in Mumbai were suffering from other ailments and were senior citizens.
