COVID-19: Mumbai’s recovery and doubling rates fall again

Restrictions have been imposed in many districts of the state due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and the numbers recorded on Monday provided no relief to the authorities.


The state recorded 15,051 cases taking the total tally of Maharashtra to 23.29 lakh cases. However, the mortality number remains stable. The COVID-related deaths recorded in the last 24 hours in the state were 48, taking the total to 52,909 deaths in all.


The city reported 1,713 new cases on Monday. To ensure that the situation is again under control, aggressive testing has begun across the city. The Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivli Corporation recorded 309, 158 and 250 cases, respectively in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. 


The state’s recovery rate which has dropped now stands at 92.07 per cent with 10,671 patients discharged on Monday. The total number of active COVID patients in the state is 1,30,547. 

Mumbai’s recovery rate too has dropped and stands at 92 per cent while the doubling rate now stands at 165 days. The city’s overall growth rate has increased in the last one week and currently stands at 0.42 per cent. The total count of positive cases recorded so far stands at 3.45 lakh cases and the number of tests carried out so far is 35.74 lakh. To the dismay of the citizens, the active cases now stand at 14,582 in the city. 

However, the mortality rate of the state is at 2.27 per cent. According to the state government’s data there were 48 COVID-related deaths in the state, and Wardha district led with 10 deaths reported in a single day. MMR recorded a total of 8 death cases, with 4 cases in Mumbai, 3 in Navi Mumbai and 1 in Panvel. Mumbai civic officials said out of these 4 deaths, 3 people were suffering from other ailments and 3 were senior citizens.
