Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will hold a meeting on Tuesday with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and officials to review the coronavirus situation in the state, according to ANI.

The state -- which has witnessed an upsurge in COVID- 19 cases since February 10 -- reported 6,112 infections last Friday (February 19). It reported 6,281 and 6,971 new cases on Saturday (Feb 20) and Sunday (Feb 21), respectively.
According to an official statement, Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 21,06,094. With 18 new deaths reported on Monday, the state's fatality count rose to 51,806.
Owing to the spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday had said that the coming eight days will decide whether there will be a lockdown in the state.
In a video address, Thackeray had said, "Do you want lockdown? The next eight days will decide. Maharashtra has reported around 7,000 COVID cases today. If the COVID-19 situation deteriorates, then we have to impose lockdown. Those who want a lockdown can roam around without mask while those who do not want it must wear a mask and follow all the rules."
Mumbai city continued to report the highest single- day cases in the state with a spike of 761 on Monday. The country’s financial capital alone has witnessed 3,19,889 cases and 11,446 deaths till now.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday distributed masks in Dadar vegetable market. “Mumbai Police has joined hands with us. People are more scared of police than marshals. I request all to wear masks, sanitise and maintain social distancing,” she said.
The Mumbai Mayor also said that an awareness programme was conducted with the help of the police.
Maharashtra's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 21,06,094; new cases 5,210; deaths: 51,806; discharged 19,99,982; active cases: 53,113; people tested so far: 1,57,93,424.
