The action against the actress comes as the civic body scrambles to contain the spike in COVID infections in Mumbai. Apart from imposing punitive measures on people disobeying quarantine norms, the corporation has also repeatedly urged citizens to mask up, maintain social distancing and wash hands frequently.
As per the case papers, the actress was found COVID positive on March 11.
Walked out of sealed building
However, she went out of her sealed building and was seen wandering in the open. After being informed, a civic health team reached her home on the evening of March 14. But the actress did not open the door despite requests. She allegedly also ignored their phone calls. The BMC team then took the help of a local social worker to persuade her to open the door. The officials then stamped the quarantine seal on her hand.
On a complaint by officials of K West ward, which comprises Oshiwara, Andheri West and Vile Parle, the police registered a case against the actress under the Indian Penal Code and the Communicable Diseases Control Act for allegedly engaging in public activities, participating in shoots and causing infections to others.
