State sees drop in fresh Covid-19 infections, registers 3,586

The city saw a marginal dip in Covid cases on Friday but the figure remained above 400. However, the fatalities due to the infection increased. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the city registered 434 fresh cases and three deaths. The test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 1.07 per cent.

All the three deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age. Meanwhile, the city’s doubling rate continued to decrease and was 1,289 days. Mumbai’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, and 387 people were discharged after full recovery.
The state’s Covid-19 cases saw a marginal drop on Friday but it remained below 4,000. As per the state health department report, 3,586 cases were reported. The state, however, saw a marginal increase in the number of deaths at 67. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 4,410 people were discharged after full recovery. The state has 48,451 active cases.
MMR cases below 1,000
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) recorded an increase in the number of cases on Friday as compared to Thursday. As per the state report, 939 cases were reported in the MMR, including those from Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai recorded 83 cases — second highest in the MMR. Along with this, Raigad and Panvel recorded 78 and 74 cases, respectively.

The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered six Covid-19 deaths on Friday, which was reported in Thane Municipal Corporation and Panvel with two and one in Raigad and Thane region.
