Mumbai to hit 100 per cent first-jab milestone today

Mumbai is just 792 doses away from its target of vaccinating over 92.36 lakh adult population eligible for COVID-19 vaccination with at least the first dose

As of Friday evening, over 92.35 lakh adult population, who are currently eligible for COVID-19 immunisation, had taken their first dose of the vaccine. Mumbai is just 792 doses away from hitting the milestone of administering the first shot to its 100 per cent beneficiaries.


The city has 92.36 lakh people aged 18 years and above, eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination, and the city is most likely to meet the target today (Saturday).


Mumbai had already crossed the 1.5-crore dose milestone, including both first and second shots, on Wednesday.


The state government has set targets for all local bodies in their respective areas, based on census data and the number of eligible citizens, according to which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has the target to vaccinate 92,36,500 citizens. As of 7.30 pm on Friday, a total of 92,35,708 citizens had taken their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.

59,61,236 full vaxxed in city

A total of 59,61,323  citizens in the city were fully vaccinated by Friday. These include vaccinations at government, municipal and private centres. The national vaccination campaign against the novel Coronavirus that causes COVID-19 started on January 16 this year.

After the commencement of vaccination on January 16, the milestone of 25 lakh doses was reached till May 5. By June 26, a total of 50 lakh people had been vaccinated and by August 7, 75 lakh, 1 crore by September 4, 1.25 crore on September 28 and 1.5 crore on November 15.
