Mumbai weather update: The India Meteorological Department Saturday predicted the possibility of moderate rain and thundershowers in Mumbai city and its suburbs. The weathermen have indicated that the rainfall may intensify towards the afternoon and evening.


Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, in a statement, said that the city will witness a high tide reaching a peak of 4.73 meters at 12:12 PM today.


In the wake of yesterday's rain, which brought varying levels of precipitation to different parts of the city, the average rainfall in the Mumbai Metropolitan region from 8 AM on September 29, 2023, to 8 AM today stands at 3.52 mm for Mumbai City, 4.47 mm for the Eastern Suburbs, and 6.14 mm for the Western Suburbs.


Additionally, the high tide expected tomorrow at 00:52 AM on October 1, 2023, is forecasted to reach 4.85 meters, followed by a low tide at 06:38 AM, with a height of 0.78 meters.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Delhi settled a notch below normal at 22.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said. The weather office has predicted mainly clear skies during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 36 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level at 8.30 am was recorded at 81 per cent. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) at 8 am was in the 'moderate' category with a reading of 175.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

On Friday, a nowcast warning was issued, alerting residents of several districts in Maharashtra of impending weather conditions. The warning, issued at 10 pm on September 28, 2023, forecasted the likelihood of a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and moderate spells of rain.

The weather department said that gusty winds, with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, are also expected at isolated places in some districts of Maharashtra  including Ahmednagar, Solapur, Satara, Sambahinagar, Latur, Nasik, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nanded, Jalna, Nandurbar, Dhule, Beed, Jalgaon, Pune, Palghar, Raigad, Thane, Mumbai, Dharashiv and Kolhapur during next 3-4 hours.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday afternoon issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and its neighbouring areas including Thane, Palghar and Raigad and predicted rains in these areas.

The IMD, in a weather bulletin said that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at one or two places were very likely.
