New president of All India Mahila Congress, Anita Verma, says women should stay within boundaries set by society and not dress provocatively

She wants the women's reservation Bill but believes the fairer sex should not cross the line when it comes to appearance and dressing. She is Anita Verma, the newly appointed president of All India Mahila Congress. "The talent of women must come forward. But, women should restrict themselves from vulgarity.

It does not suit Indian women. For instance in reality shows, contestants can show their best of talents by dress properly. God has blessed the Indian women with both beauty and qualities. They can excel in various field by staying within the boundaries," Anita Verma told MiD DAY while answering a question on growing vulgarity on reality shows.u00a0

Rooting for the Bill
Former Himachal Pradesh health minister and two-time MLA Anita Verma, who took over the post from Prabha Thakur, is hopeful of the women's reservation Bill being passed soon.

"Congress leaders are asking all the Members of Parliament to support the Bill. The Lok Sabha speaker had recently called an all-party meeting for consensus on the issue. Whoever or whichever political party opposes the Bill will definitely face the wrath of women. I hope it (reservation for women) will materialise by the end of the year," she said.

Verma said the Bill would be tabled in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament and is expected to go through. "When women can perform at Panchayat level, there is no doubt that they will perform at the highest level," she said.

Verma, daughter of an ex-army officer, said that her priority was to reach rural women and activate them to partake in the political process.
