An arrest warrant has been issued against the accused who has gone absconding.
According to the complaint filed by Kaveri (name changed), Clement J Singh, a resident of Bharathi Nagar and 20 years her senior, spent the last years spreading rumours about her.
Trouble started last year when Kaveri's family decided to get her married. "When my father-in-law came to see me for the first time, Clement stood in front of our gate and told him that I was characterless," said Kaveri.

It was later established that Singh was retaliating to Kaveri's grandmother filing an eviction complaint against him, after he failed to pay Rs 4 lakh in rent dues.
Singh continued with his efforts even after Kaveri was married. "He told my husband that he and I were lovers, and that I had had several abortions.
My husband left me while I was still pregnant and asked for a divorce. He still hasn't come to see our newborn," alleged Kaveri. "Clement claims to have friends in high places, so he thinks he can do whatever he likes."
When the police paid Singh a visit on Tuesday morning, they found that he had made a run for it. "Apparently Clement was in love with Kaveri.
