Eminent personalities promise to do their bit to keep city smoke-free on World No Tobacco Day on May 31

Celebrities in the city support MiD DAY's no smoking initiative on World No Tobacco Day on May 31. Join the campaign and pledge your support. Visit SGS Mall, Moledina Road from Saturday evening till Tuesday evening and support the cause to make the city smoke-free.u00a0

It's difficult to convince chain smokers to leave their addiction even for a day. This campaign should be a long-term one, but it's a good start. These days I see majority youngsters vouching not to smoke. I see it as a positive sign and a good beginning.

Not that I am a chain smoker, but yes I will avoid smoking for that day at least and also convince other people to do the same. Although people are educated in this regard, such campaigns should be held frequently to spread awareness.

I have nothing against smokers but I feel they are weak in mind. Smoking does not prove that they are strong. On this 31st, I will be in Bali but I'll ensure that every smoker around me gives it up for a day at least.
Whether I am backstage or shooting, I always make sure that there is no one smoking near me, as passive smoking is more dangerous and injurious to health.
ufffd Pooja Chopra, former runner-up at Miss India

Yes, I support the cause. There is no concrete benefit in smoking and all smokers are aware of this. Yet, they continue. On this day, I will try and discourage any smoker I meet and instil some logic in them

I personally don't like smokers. But if MiD DAY can get smokers to quit even for a day, it will be phenomenal. It will be great if this campaign can help people quit smoking forever. I definitely support the cause.

I am a strongly againstu00a0 smoking personality. In fact, no one in my family and friend circle dares to smoke when I am around. Smoking very quickly turns into a habit and therefore addiction. It is one of the biggest defects in anyone's personality. I will surely vouch for this day.

Smokers make excuses to continue with this addiction.I have coaxed my husband and friends to quit smoking and shall coax others too. It was a good decision by the government a few years ago to ban smoking in public places.
