Nepali artist Preksha Tater is taking the road never travelled. Her canvas is the size of a visiting card

Nepali artist Preksha Tater has struck upon a small big idea. She's decided that her canvas is going to measure 90 mm x 52 mm, the size of a visiting card, for her first solo exhibition titled, Small Wonders. On display at Colaba's Strand Art Room are tiny paintings that feature collages, cutouts, embroidery and sculptural techniques. In some, Tater has combined a bunch of small sheets to make a larger mural, while the rest are individual mini-paintings. The largest painting stands at just a little over 20 cm.

Curator Anne Maniglier, a photographer and picture editor, has been an avid collector of Tater's work for three years. She says Tater manages to go pole vault regional and cultural boundaries. "The tiny frame of Tater's work will not intimidate the audience, in fact, it will attract them." The price ranges from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000, and they are hoping art lovers will end up buying two or three works at a time, instead of a single one.

At: The Strand Art Room, ground floor, Ama House, Brahma Kumari Marg, near Strand Cinema, Colaba.
Till: October 29.
