Pune International Film Festival to be held between January 12 and 19; seven films in Marathi Competition Section

The 10th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) organised by the Pune Film Foundation and the state government is to be held in the city between January 12 and 19.u00a0
More than 200 films from 40 countries will be shown during the festival.u00a0Dr Jabbar Patel, director, PIFF, said the World Cinema Competition Section will have 14 films and the Marathi Competition Section will have seven films.u00a0

For the first time, PIFF will confer an award on two film personalities for their remarkable contribution to Indian cinema. The awards will be presented at the inauguration ceremony.u00a0
Global cinema, country focus on German films, retrospective of Taiwanese director Hsiao-Hsien Hou, Indian and Marathi cinema today, documentaries and tributes will be the other highlights of the festival.u00a0
Patel said the state government and the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal will give Rs 20 lakh and Rs 1 lakh for best films in world cinema and Marathi cinema, respectively.
