The music died and dance came to a standstill when police raided a night club on Residency Road, arresting 18 bar girls and the manager.
The Central Crime Branch raided 77 East Lounge, a bar and restaurant, and Night Lover,u00a0 the attached night club, around 10.30 pm on a tip-off, said DCP S N Sidramappa who accompanied the team.u00a0 The operation went beyond midnight after which the media was allowed.
Path to fame?
There was some initial resistance from the girls when cameramen started clicking pictures. But they later gave in, saying: Le lo, le lo, hum bhi TV pe aayenge." The girls arrested were mostly from Mumbai and Kolkata.
Police sources said that the nightclub was charging Rs 500 per person and though the management denied it, the place had been set up for dances. Police seized the light and sound system and questioned the staff.
