A child abductor is on the loose and the police have no clue. This man kidnapped a four-year-old boy on Saturday. But all the police know is that his name is Laxman. He also tried kidnapping a five-year-old girl from Paud, albeit unsuccessfully.
Hrithik Ankush Jadhav (4) was kidnapped on Saturday afternoon from the market area of Paud, but the First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Tuesday. Paud police have registered a case against the suspect, but are finding it difficult to nab him as they don't have any useful information about him.
According to the complaint lodged by Hrithik's grandmother Tara, the suspect was familiar to Hrithik's father, as they had earlier met him at a construction site. It was then he had mentioned his name as Laxman. But his full name, address is not known. "We searched for him everywhere but could not trace him. The police told us to bring a photograph of the child and then registered the case against the suspect," a family member stated.
Investigating officer Sunil Wanve from the Paud police station said, "On Saturday, when Hrithik was taken to a hair-cutting salon, the suspect approached Tara Jadhav and said that he would take him for a stroll. However, when he didn't return, Jadhav's family got worried."
Hrithik's mother is dead and Wanve complained that his father has not turned up for the identification process. When asked about the other girl, Wanve said that the investigation in that case is still on.
