Condition of two people serious; three sustain minor fractures


Two people were seriously injured and three suffered minor fractures in five separate accidents within a span of three hours in the city late last night.

The first victim was Jugendar Mantri Patel (25), who was knocked down by a speeding biker in Warje. The biker fled the scene.

Patel, who was unconscious, was rushed to Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital for treatment by the police. From there he was shifted to Sassoon hospital.

At the time of going to press, an attempt was being made to contact his family while a case was being registered at the Warje police station.

Patel received head injuries and his condition was reported to be serious.

In the second case, Bhausaheb Kadam (26) was knocked down by a speeding vehicle at Chandan Nagar. While he was rushed to Rakshak hospital for initial treatment and later transferred to YCM Hospital, an attempt was being made to identify the vehicle that hit him. Kadam too received extensive head injuries and required a complicated operation for which he was being referred to Sassoon hospital.

Tulshi Bhati (22) received a minor fracture when he was knocked down by a biker near Khadki railway station.
Seven-year-old Payal Siddharth was knocked down by a speeding biker at Jadhav Wadi in Chinchwad because of which her left leg sustained a fracture.


In a post-midnight accident,u00a0 a biker met with a serious accident after a van that was driving on the wrong side of the road crashed into him. The accident happened at Pimpri around 12.45 am. The biker, who received head injuries, was rushed to the Lokmanya hospital in Nigdi. While he was yet to be identified, eyewitnesses said that the van driver fled the scene.
