"We have displayed three Nano models designed for Khali, Vijay Mallya and Gandhiji. The theme of our stall is the Battle of the Nanos. I have made the Gandhi Nano and it is white in colour with round headlights and backlights which resemble Gandhi's spectacles," said Final Year student, Master of Designing, IIT-D Bharat J.
In comparison, Vijay Mallya's flaming red Nano reflects Kingfisher's shades. "Vijay Mallya is flamboyant and very stylish, so I have designed a Nano with flames on its exterior. We have got good response from the industry, experts and designers. We expect these models will hit the road soon," said Parimal Tukdeo, Final Year student of the college.
Interestingly, this year, the Auto Expo is not only about cars and bikes being launched by auto makers but also about amateur designers with students from KJ Somaiya, Delhi Technical University, NID, Ahmedabad and IIT-Mumbai displaying their creations.
"We have converted the Yamaha FZ 16 into a sports utility vehicle that can be used for urban transport and off-road drive. The process of developing and designing the bike took more than two months. At the Auto Expo, we are getting many queries about our design and concept. Here, we are getting an opportunity to meet and compete with the best in the world," said Makarand Potdar of DSK International School of Design
from Pune.
