New campaign is propagating responsible drinking habits

A night out with friends and wild partying with unlimited boozeu00a0sounds like the perfect recipe for disaster. But now you can get lessons in safe drinking. With incidents of drunken driving becoming rampant in the city, a recently launched campaign is educating consumers about responsible drinking.

Drink Aware India, an independent programme, has created avenues to deal with binge drinking. The campaign is not meant to discourage drinking, rather aims at making people aware of their limit.

An initiative of the Institute of Bar Operations and Management (IBOM), 'Drink Aware India' campaign puts its message across in a lighter vein. "We conduct wine and cocktail appreciation sessions for people to help them know their drink and consumption level well," quips Sandeep Verma, director of the campaign.

The initiative has marked a recent growth in the hospitality industry.

Major hotspots in the city like Urban Pind and Cafu00e9 Morrison are also geared up to welcome the campaign. Aneesh Khanna director of Cafu00e9 Morrison chips in saying "We have put up huge posters educating people on responsible drinking. This apart, we also provide cab services to our guests who is too high to drive back home.

Various online portals areu00a0 lending their support to the campaign. Tulleeho.com. one such website has been promoting responsible drinking for the last 9 years.

"Our website is all about how to enjoy drinking in a responsible way. We conduct workshops and seminars on the same and the site provides ways on how to handles someone who is completely sloshed" says Rohan Jelkie, training manager, Tulleeho.com
