The 21-year-old girl, a student at a private Law college, was attacked with acid by some youths from a moving car, a police officer said. He said the girl was rushed to nearby SKIMS hospital where doctors said she has received severe burn injuries.
The police officer said they have taken cognisance of the incident and started investigations to track down the assailants. This is the second acid attack in Srinagar in two years. A 30-year-old private school teacher was the victim of a similar attack in January last year in aghat-Barzulla area of the city.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said a massive man hunt was launched to nab the culprits. "The attackers fled in a car having a sticker 'MANSA' pasted on its rear glass," the spokesman said. He said a case has been registered in this regard.
