Policemen will not limit themselves to those who consumed drugs on Sunday's rave, but also plan to come down hard on guests who consumed alcohol without permits
The Juhu police is not just intent on booking people for consuming drugs, but are also harbouring plans to book revellers who had consumed alcohol in the Oakwood Hotel rave party that was busted on Sunday night. Confirming this, Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police said, “If it is found that the guests who test positive for alcohol consumption did not have alcohol permits, they will be booked under the Bombay Prohibition Act.”

“Drinking alcohol without a permit is a serious offence and we will take action against people who tested positive of alcohol consumption. We have reports from the breathalyser tests we took of the guests. We are waiting to receive reports about the blood levels of alcohol for the people who tested positive in the initial report,” added Dighavkar.

Some of the attendees were outraged by the announcement. “We had not consumed drugs, but drinking alcohol is common in parties,” claimed one of the 91 guests who were detained by the police while they were at the party. Police sources said that cricketers Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who were detained after the party, were also drinking alcohol. “The state in which the IPL players were found has caused us to suspect that they had consumed alcohol,” said a police officer from the Juhu police station.
Meanwhile, the Juhu police yesterday recorded the statements of the two DJs who were playing at the party. “We had called the DJs for questioning, but did not find any proof, and so let them go,” said Vishwas Nangre-Patil, additional commissioner of police (west region). DJ brothers Romeo and Deepesh Sharma of Designer Hippies told the police that they had been paid Rs 50,000 to play for the revelers, and knew nothing more about the other goings on in the party. The Juhu police has also initiated the process of cancelling all the permits of Oakwood Hotel, where the rave party was conducted.
“I have instructed the police officers at Juhu to cancel the permits of the hotel,” Dighavkar added. Meanwhile, cops have also identified the drug peddler who supplied high quality cocaine and charas for the party. The peddler allegedly has an earlier record of drug supply, and has also been arrested before. Investigations are also been undertaken to nab drug peddlers who are known to supply drugs to the Bollywood circuit and are enlisting the names of all such small-time peddlers who sell drugs to parties hosted and attended by the elite.
Statements of all the 91 revellers detained at the party are also being recorded. Three statements were recorded yesterday. “We will verify the addresses and identities of the 19 foreign nationals with the help of their passports and their embassies. We will also find out what kind of visas they had and what their purpose of visit to Mumbai was,” added Dighavkar. u00a0
