Crisis-hit Air India today filed a contempt of court application in the Supreme Court against its on-strike pilots.
The Air India management Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the office bearers of the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) for defying its May 2 order on imparting training to the pilots of Air India and the erstwhile Indian Airlines for Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The Air India management contended that the IPG was thwarting the implementation of the apex court order by which the pilots of Air India and that of the erstwhile Indian Airlines were to receive training in equal numbers for flying the Boeing 787.
The apex court in its order of May 2 said that the pilots of Air India and pre-merger erstwhile Indian Airlines would be imparted training abroad in equal proportion.
The court order permitting training to two groups of pilots in equal proportion was passed in the wake of challenge to the Bombay High Court which had restrained Air India from sending the pilots of the erstwhile Indian Airlines for training on Boeing 787 abroad.
The apex court stayed the operation of the high court order April 23.
The contempt petition by the Air India contended that the ongoing strike by members of IPG was disrupting the operations of national carrier on the international circuit.u00a0
