Akhshata's wedding jitters

Ms. Junior Murthy is fed up of all the arrangements and now wants just her mother and aunt around during preparations for the wedding

>>Bride-to-be changes her mind, to get decked in private
>>Festivities take off today with a family cocktail party
>>Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw to host ladies' sangeet tomorrow

Akshata Murthy's backed out. Of her appointments at The Leela Palace salon, that is.

According to sources, the reserved daughter of Infosys' N R Narayana Murthy, who ties the knot with Stanford classmate Rishi Sunak this weekend, would rather get decked in the privacy of her Leela suite with mom Sudha Murthy and an aunt.

With the big day approaching, Akshata also checked into a salon at a star hotel to pamper herself with a facial and bridal treatments.

Known to be a simple and sweet person, Akshata, however, has managed to keep away from the limelight and prefers not to encourage any unnecessary conversation about her nuptials at the salons and shops. But we do know that she ordered white orchids for her haldi and muhurtham functions.

Party time

Meanwhile, guests from outside the city have already started trickling in, armed with white-and-gold invites (In keeping with the family's software tradition, there were e-invites as well). The festivities take off this evening with a small cocktail function for family members.

Biocon's Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, a close family friend, will host a ladies' sangeet tomorrow evening at her house in Electronic City. Invites have gone out to the city's who's who including the Shibulals who co-founded Infosys, the Mainis who gave us the Reva, designer Leena Singh, the Pais, Infosys' board of directors, relatives and close family friends. There's to be bhangra and lots of peppy numbers to dance to.
