Twenty-one-year-old B Tech student hanged himself at his Noida Sector 82 residence
A B Tech student from Uttar Pradesh committed suicide at a rented house in Sector 82 of Madhuban Vihar in Noida on Wednesday evening.
No suicide note was recovered from the room of the deceased, identified as Sumit Singh (21), a third year student of Amity University.
Sumit hung himself from the ceiling fan and the incident was detected when his roommates returned. Backlog of carryover papers of previous years may have been the reason for suicide, police sources said.

March 25, 2010: A 20-year-old engineering student of Amity University, who had been allegedly abducted from Sector 41 by three persons, was later found murdered in Harduaganj, Aligarh. The three accused, including mastermind Vivek Patel, who is the grandson of a former Fatehpur MLA, have been arrested. The deceased Rohit Singh was allegedly strangled in Panipat district of Haryana by his abductors, who had earlier sought Rs one crore as ransom from his father, an Aligarh-based building contractor.
February 4, 2010: A second year BBA student of Amity University committed suicide at her Sector 23 residence in Noida. The 20-year-old student was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Around 1 am, when Aditi's guardians went to her room, they found the door closed. After knocking repeatedly, the guardians forced open the door suspecting foul play. A suicide note was found by the police, which had "I am sorry" written on it. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. Aditi's parents are settled in Oman.
October 21, 2009: Two B Tech students of Amity University committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills when they came to know that they would not be allowed to take their third semester exams as they didn't score well in the second semester. Bodies of Shobhit and Aditya were found near the washroom of the E1 block of the B Tech building on campus.
