New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium yesterday recommended elevation of three HC Chief Justices and a senior lawyer to the apex court, the first since a new law on appointment of judges to higher judiciary was struck down by the top court.

Headed by Chief Justice of India TS Thakur, the collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice AM Khanwilkar (Madhya Pradesh High Court), Justice DY Chandrachud (Allahabad HC), Justice Ashok Bhushan (Kerala HC) and senior lawyer and former ASGL Nageshwar Rao to be elevated to the post of an SC judge. Rao is counsel for Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa in the DA case.
