Cops said 20-year-old Mubarak called from a public telephone booth in Yamuna Vihar area of East Delhi to help relatives who had to fly to Hyderabad and were running late.u00a0 He was arrested from the Bhagirath Vihar area.
"A man, identified as Mubarak, has been arrested from Bhagirath Vihar area in East Delhi for making a hoax bomb call," said a senior Delhi police official posted at IGI Airport, wishing anonymity.

"His relatives were running late for the flight. He made the call to delay the aircraft by few hours. No case has been registered yet as the accused is being brought to the domestic airport. No formal complaint has been received from Indigo as well," the officer told MiD DAY.

According to the police, at 8.30 pm, the Indigo airlines call centre received a call saying the Delhi-Hyderabad flight (6E 307) had explosives on board.u00a0 The flight was scheduled for departure at 8.55 pm. Later, the call was traced to a public telephone booth in the Yamuna Vihar area. The bomb squad of the Delhi police and CISF officials posted at IGI checked the flight for over three hours. The aircraft and declared safe at around 12.30 am. The flight had 164 passengers onboard, including five crew members.

Immediately after the call was reported, authorities implemented emergency measures and evacuated the aircraft. It was moved to the isolation bay. Passengers were de-boarded and taken to the terminal building for a second security check. Anti-sabotage checks were carried out on the aircraft.

On October 26,u00a0 Infosys employee Abhishek Gupta called the Delhi airport to delay a Go Air flight to Bangalore.

The Go Air flight (G8201) to Bangalore was delayed by over four hours by the software professional, who was coming to Delhi on a train which was running late.
