What made you take to the tube?
Facing the camera was never on my mind, but the producers told me that I would be talking about cinema, Brian de Palma, Clint Eastwood and Indiana Jones; the joy of cinema made me say yes.
Did filmmaking help in taking up your new role?
Yes, it did. The films that I talk of, have been part of my life as a filmmaking apprentice. Since I am a director, it's easy for me to gauge the demands of my own show director.
Did you like the dressing up, too?
That was the most taxing task. I dress casually, but here, I take four new avatars. For the James Bond documentary, I have put on a tuxedo. For the Indiana Jones documentary, I wear an Indiana Jones hat. My skin hurts!
What's the series all about?
It talks about the reasons that led to the creation of a character. Indiana Jones or 007 actually have a story behind them. Indiana Jones and his adventures were based on the life of the adventurer and explorer, Roy Chapman. That's what these documentaries do they tell what you never knew.
Given a chance, would you host a game show?
As of now, I haven't thought about it. Actually, I don't know whether or not I'll be able to do it.
Will you frequent TV frequently?
I will, if I get shows like True Stories.
When are you hitting the big screen again?
My current project is on Guru Dutt's life. Then, I'm working on Doga with Kunal Kapoor. The film is based on a popular superhero character of Raj Comics. I am writing the script for Goldie Behl's Shor and the dialogues for Crooked. Bombay Velvet with John Abraham is another project I'm working on.
True Stories Premieres tonight at 10 pm on Fox History and Entertainment
