The body of Lt Col Mandar Nene (36), who died on Friday in a helicopter crash near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, arrived in the city late last night

Army officer's body brought to city

The body of Lt Col Mandar Nene (36), who died on Friday in a helicopter crash near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, arrived in the city late last night.

Lt Col Nene's death was declared a battle casualty. His mortal remains were flown into the city around 11.30 pm yesterday. The cremation is to be held today at 10 am at the Vaikunth Crematorium.

Lt Col Nene is survived by wife Priya, son Advait (10) and daughter Aastha (6). Nene was an alumnus of SP College. He joined the NDA in 1993.
