Savoring sushi and sashimi with scotch at Oko, Lalit Ashok's Pan-Asian restaurant, is the last word in luxury


Oko, the all-new pan-Asian restaurant at the Lalit Ashok offers is luxury personified.




The menu is an interesting mix of Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Chinese cuisines.

We started with the Sashimi Maguro made with tuna, which was light and flavourful.

The Uramaki platter, that chef Nimesh Bhatia sent next, had tasty morsels of steamed, fried, baked and roasted seafood, including tuna, crabmeat and prawns, and assorted vegetables, making it look like a work of art.

The salmon-wrapped crab meat with avocado, in the platter, was superb.

Sushi with scotch, I discovered, is the perfect recipe for an evening of indulgence.

After such a repast of nibbles, the main course had to light. I opted foru00a0 steamed rice with tiny helpings of Coriander Chicken, cooked the Thai way.

My companion chose Malaysian flat noodles, and Mafu tofu (diced tofu, sautu00e9ed with spicy black beans and Szechwan pepper sauce), and was pleased with the crunchy, salty and spicy flavours.

Dessert was an airy lemon grass panna cotta and an interesting bitter chocolate ice cream with shitake mushrooms.
