Lokayukta sleuths trapped S T Mitagara, executive engineer of Bailahongala sub-division, while he was accepting the amount from Muddaiah Bikshavathimuth.

Mitagara had demanded the bribe to sanction an electric transformer on Muddaiah's land.
Unable to pay the bribe, Muddaiah tipped the sleuths who laid a trap and nabbed Mitagara red handed.
Lokayukta officials also raided Mitagara's house and were shocked to discover that he possessed unaccounted property worth over a crore.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Pranab Mohanty said that the assets were evaluated on the basis of government rates. "Investigations are on to ascertain whether the accused has any other property in his name," he said.
Meanwhile, Mitagara has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and has been remanded to judicial custody.
