Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa lost his temper yesterday after an astrologer approached him with advice to keep away from women -- especially good friend Shobha Karandlaje -- in order to avoid political turbulence.
No more bitter prescription: B Y Narayanaswamy, who claimed to be
an astrologer, met Yeddyurappa during the Janatha Darshan yesterday.
The CM politely asked him to leave. However, Narayanaswamy
refused to go and was finally chased away.
To the dismay of the staff members present, the hapless fortune teller was unceremoniously evicted from the CM's presence for speaking nonsense, though they knew he had a penchant for astrology. However, the astrologer who offered advice for free, said it would be the other party who would be in trouble in the near future and not Yeddyurappa.
Out of the blue
The CM came across B Y Narayanaswamy, who claimed to be an astrologer, during the Janatha Darshan -- meeting the public at his residence to address their problems. Contrary to his image as a believer in astrology, Yeddyurappa did not encourage him, but politely asked him to leave. When he refused to be discouraged, he chased him out.
"I had not come here with any problem as I don't have such a big problem in my life. It is the CM who is in trouble. I only wanted to offer him some remedial measures and I was not expecting money. He has no patience to hear me out," said Narayanaswamy.
Quite unusual
The CM's staff members were momentarily confused by Yeddyurappa's rather unusual behaviour, as they knew astrology was always one of his priorities. According to one of the staff members who was standing within earshot, the CM was offended with the astrologer because he said that one of Yeddyurappa's close associates would be in trouble in the near future.
"The so called astrologer continued to advise him to keep a distance from people who are currently close to him. He said that close friends would bring him trouble. I think the CM disiked what the astrologer was saying," said the staff member.
Bad combination?
Although he has not mentioned Shobha's name before the CM, Narayanaswamy claimed to have figured out some astrological issue in their close association. He also said that the time Yeddyurappa took oath as the CM was the cause of the trouble.
"Yeddyurappa's zodiac sign is ruled by Mars, while Shobha's is ruled by Saturn. Mars and Saturn never gel well in the political equations and the close association brings numerous problem to the person who holds a position of higher responsibility. Better Yeddyurappa understands this," said Narayanaswamy. He added that he was aware of astrologers giving similar analysis and had come up with some simple remedies, but he refused to give the details. He also pointed out at the timing of Yeddyurappa taking oath as the CM -- 12.05 pm on 30 June 2008 -- as the cause of all the trouble. "Ascending the throne after noon is not advisable as the sun starts descending after 12 noon and signifies the decline. Normally, such programmes must be scheduled for the early morning," he informed.
Utter nonsense
Yeddyurappa brushed aside his analysis and said, "Its not that I am not a believer. I believe in god and the blessings of elders. But how can I allow a stranger, who claims to be an astrologer, talk utter nonsense."
Siddramiah, leader of the opposition in the assembly, blamed Yeddyurappa for the drama, as it was he who had encouraged superstition including astrology and black magic all along.u00a0 "Yeddyurappa has wasted his valuable time and energy in these things earlier and I don't know why he is behaving like a rational now. Probably the prescription was so bitter that he didn't want hear it," he said.
