People in the state BJP are working overtime to dig out incriminating information against IAC members. They are especially interested in anything they can find against Anjali Damania.

It is thanks to Damania of IAC that BJP chief Nitin Gadkari is today embroiled in controversies, as she was the first one to come out with corruption allegations against him. After Damania’s revelations, the media reported suspicious dealings in businesses that had a Gadkari connection.

Now, according to sources in the BJP, several MLAs and many other leaders well versed with the filing of RTI queries and trained in the backdoor diplomacy required to obtain documents are working hard to collect as much proof against Damania and other IAC members as they can. So far, the state BJP has kept mum on all accusations against Gadkari.

A source in the party said the BJP was a party known for providing proof for all its claims and would come out in public against IAC members after the ongoing collection of evidence was satisfactorily completed.

“We are collecting evidence and soon will launch a full-fledged attack on the IAC and its people,” the source said. “Senior party leaders — this includes MLAs, MLCs and even office-bearers — are busy collecting data. This is another reason why leaders who used to hold a press conference every week are currently out of the media glare.”

Herself facing accusations of shady land dealings, Damania has started another campaign on a Facebook page, where she is putting her side of the story along with photos and other evidence.

The BJP is sure that Damania “is not an activist” and says it has all the papers to prove that her claims about the Karjat land are false.

“Anjali Damania is not a social activist, she’s an anti-social activist and a high-profile real estate person,” party spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said. “We have documents and we aren’t just making allegations.”

On whether these documents were obtained by a set of people specifically tasked to do so by the party, Bhandari said he was not aware of any specific group working to obtain the documents from the government.
