Ali Khalil Al Haiki, an MBA student who heads the Bahraini students' association here, said the cops aren't content with photocopies of passports. "We went to the Kondhwa police station several times, but the cops aren't ready to give the passports.

They have asked us to approach the court," he said Inspector M K Gaikar of the Kondhwa police station confirmed that the passports were retained. "As a case has been registered against the students, we had to confiscate their passports," saidu00a0 Gaikar. He added that the police cannot return the passports unless the court gives the students a clean chit in the case.

Case history
Last Thursday, around 35 Bahraini students staying in Mayfair Eleganza Phase II in Kondhwa were attacked and robbed by armed goons. When the students reached the police station to lodge a complaint, they were arrested and booked under Section 143 and 147 of the IPC.
According to the cops, the students were arrested after residents of the building filed a complaint against the students as they were creating a ruckus in the society. Also, one of the students had allegedly bit a resident's finger following which society members attacked them.
