The identification parade for German Bakery blast prime accused Himayat Baig (29) was conducted by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) yesterday morning. The names of the witnesses were kept a secret.
The ATS conducted the identification parade at the Yerwada Central Jail. Police sources said two witnesses were present for the identification parade.
The ATS flatly refused to divulge the names of the witnesses and the circumstances under which they might have came in contact with Baig.
It is believed that even the tehsildar, under whose presence the identification parade was conducted, was not informed about the names of the witnesses.
Sources said one of the witnesses was from the city, while the other was from Mumbai.
The ATS had requested for Baig's magisterial custody on September 28 when he was produced in court to facilitate the identification parade.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Swaroop S Bose had granted the prosecution's demand and remanded Baig
in magisterial custody till October 4.
