Incident in outer Delhi; police suspect an insider may be involved
When criminals striking at a bank display more interest in software rather than hard cash, it naturally leaves the cops befuddled. Hard disks containing details of transactions were stolen from Delhi State Cooperative Bank's Alipur branch on Tuesday morning. The criminals also set the building on fire before fleeing from the scene.

A senior police officer said that the role of an insider can't be ruled out. The officer said that the thieves barged inside the bank from its terrace and they were well versed with the topography of the bank.
"They did not touch cash kept in the bank but damaged the computers. We have found that hard disks of the computers are missing. We are quite sure that some bank employees are involved as ordinary thieves wouldn't steal hard disks," the officer said.
He added that the robbers deliberately set the premises on fire. They even burnt the CCTV cameras to escape arrest. According to the officer, the CCTV record room was also damaged and footages have been burnt.
Meanwhile, a fire official said that they received a call in this regard at 6.20 am. He said that three fire engines were sent to the spot and by 7:50 am the fire was under control. No one was hurt in the incident.
Police said that they are investigating the matter.
