Wildlife cell wants public involvement for new initiative

Garden City will soon get back its glory, with a little help from you.

The BBMP wildlife cell is introducing the concept of a green police to attract, preserve and promote species of birds and animals and their habitat in the city. And everyone is welcome to join.

"The aim is to bring back the green," said R Sharath Babu, environment advisor, BBMP. "It aims at various measures that provide a sound ecosystem for birds and animals."

Green policing

Anybody who is concerned about Bangalore can be a green police by enrolling with the BBMP wildlife cell. They should work with the 20 existing volunteers, who are green policemen.

"A morning walker can be a green policeman. All he needs to do is call the helpline and give information to the wildlife cell on any issue pertaining to the environment, birds and animals," added Sharath.
