Hadapsar police finally managed to arrest Arvind alias Ambya Dipak Jadhav (24) on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off, the police nabbed the notorious robber, who was caught unawares at a beer bar he frequented at Hadapsar.
Jadhav has 16 cases of robbery, serious theft and dacoity registered against his name in various police stations in Ambarnath, Hadapsar and Thane.
Previous record
Jadhav had been absconding since 2008. He gave police the slip in the narrow bylanes in Sarvoday Nagar, which is said to be home to 170 people with criminal records.
Said Senior Police Inspector Pandharinath Mandhare of the Hadapsar police, "Jadhav underwent trial for seven serious crimes, including dacoity, theft in company premises and vehicle theft. He has been absconding since June 2008 after he attacked a police official on duty with arms."
Modus operandi
Mandhare added, "It was difficult to nab Jadhav because he would recruit four to fiveu00a0 members in his gang to pull off a particular crime, and change gang members after his 'mission' was accomplished. Jadhav's modus operandi was simple and smart: He ensured that he did not have any associates in the area he was targeting. He would lie low in Ambarnath or Solapur after committing a crime."
