The face off between Arun Bhatia and Kalmadi continues. Arun Bhatia's public interest litigation against chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi will be admitted in Delhi High Court today. It may be recalled that Bhatia had contested the elections for a Lok Sabha seat in Pune and lost it to Suresh Kalmadi in 2009.
Bhatia filed the PIL on October 5 against Kalmadi and others including Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports GOI, Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Commissioner- New Delhi, Government of NCT Delhi and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Bhatia and the other petitioners (see box) are in Delhi for the first court hearing. "We have a chance to nab a powerful politician this time in charges of corruption," he said.
Bhatia has demanded that Kalmadi should be removed from the post of the chairman of the organising committee with immediate effect. "Records of the bills have to be sealed and an independent agency should start the physical audit of work immediately," he added.
