A bloodstained article of clothing Ayesha Siddiqui wore during her miscarriage is expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing investigations against Shoaib Malik.
Ayesha has accused the Pakistani cricketer of deserting her after marriage and denying he is married to her. The City Crime Station (CCS) team investigating the case is contemplating sending the clothing for a DNA test.
"We are considering it as one of our options. However, nothing has been finalised yet," K Narasimha Reddy, additional commissioner of police, Hyderabad, who is leading the investigating team, told MiD DAY.

Sources in the investigating team revealed that they were close to concluding that Shoaib had indeed married Ayesha.
"We are checking the veracity of the nikhanaama signed by Shoaib. Once that is proved, we should be able to say something," said Reddy.
The CCS team also has in its possession an old dress belonging to Shoaib that he is said to have left behind at the Siddiqui residence.
Ayesha has also provided documents to back her claim that she had to be treated for a miscarriage at a Hyderabad hospital, and that she had undergone weight loss treatment on Shoaib's insistence.
In her statement, Ayesha has said that she came in sexual contact with Shoaib at her residence in Banjara Hills, and at Taj Krishna and Taj Residency hotels.
The CCS team visited Ayesha at her residence yesterday evening and spent over an hour there.
"We wanted her to share all details and she cooperated well. I must say we have covered significant ground in the investigations," said a CCS officer.
Reddy was evasive when he was asked whether Shoaib would be arrested. "We will not come in the way of his marriage to Sania Mirza," Reddy said.u00a0
