Workshop is a humour metal band that sings of a Khooni Murga, mixes garba with death metal and shares the recipe for a demonic omelette

They confess that Khooni Murda, a B-grade Hindi movie, inspired the title of their debut album. The album cover has a sticker cautioning "Parental Advisory" in bold. And they know that if the lyrics were to be printed, there would be more asterisks in there than words. But members of humour metal band Workshop, are happy being who they are, and dish out an explanation for every outlandish song they've ever played.

The band fuses comedy and music. The title song of their debut album, Khooni Murga was originally called Khooni Murda, a death metal song with Hindi lyrics set to Bhangra beats. "The change of name happened because a song about a blood-thirsty giant chicken is way funnier than a regular zombie. The album inlay has a giant chicken chasing the band members for what we did to it in our song," explains vocalist/guitarist Sahil Makhija, aka Demonstealer.

But it's not just comic lyrics and head-banging music that Workshop makes. They cover a vast span of genres from Garba to Bhangra, even Pop and Rap music. The album includes a rap song How To Make A Demonic omelette that describes the recipe of the omlette that Demonstealer makes for fellow band members. Another song She Folked Up My Jazz expresses emotions after having been dumped by a woman. "We write about just about anything so that we can look at the lighter side of life. One of our songs, Garba Ga**du is about a Gujarati boy who wants to get laid during the dandiya nights. It came about because our drummer The Hamzoid would play garba beats in between songs, so, we decided to mix garba with death metal," says Mahikja.

Sing along to these lyrics
Kali thi raat
Chale hum saath
Humne usey dehka nahin
Bach ke kahan jaoge tum?
Andhera ho gaya
A darkness descends
Darna hai tumhe ab ussey
Khoon tumhara pi jayega
Daro kyun ki ye hai
Khuni Murga
Maut ab aaya hai
Ab tera bhagvan kidhar hai?
Khooni Murga
