Woman's corpse discovered at New Delhi railway station last week; enquiries continue to pour in

Three days after a woman's body was found in a bag at the New Delhi railway station, the police are yet to identify the victim.

About 50 people have so far seen the body but no one has claimed it, an officer said Monday."Since the news was flashed in the media about the body, enquiries are coming in. About 50 people have come to identify the body but no one has claimed it so far," the officer said.

Identity crisis
He said that the body has a peacock tattoo on the right side of the abdomen and a deep gash on the neck, which indicated that the woman had been murdered with a sharp-edged weapon."As of now we have no clues, we will wait for two or three days to see if anyone can identify the victim. After two to three days, we will send the body for post-mortem, which will throw some light on the case," a senior police officer added.

No takers
According to the police, the victim appears to be aged around 22 years. The victim is fair complexioned and five feet and two inches in height. Her throat had been slit and the body was found stuffed in an abandoned travel bag at the railway station Friday. A passenger noticed the bag with blood dripping from it and informed the police."Her hands were tied with a rope. There were injury marks on different parts of her body but she died of a cut on her throat," the police officer said.

"The woman was wearing a pair of pocket-less jeans and a top. We suspect she was murdered elsewhere and her body was dumped at the station," he added.
"It seems to be a carefully planned murder," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police BS Gurjar said.
