Every year on World Aids Day, some of us wear red ribbons while many of us attend awareness programmes. But do all these make any difference in the lives of people who live with the virus day in and day out? This very thought made 13 ladies from Needzz, a city-based NGO to do something different and fruitful on the eve of the World Aids Day 2010.
Instead of seminars and discussions, there will be music, shopping and dance at the Viva Festa Christmas Bazaar this Friday, to celebrate and help the lives of kids living with HIV in an orphanage u00a0Describing December as a month of caring and sharing, Rita Ajmera, a member of the organizing committee of Viva Festa Christmas Bazaar says, "People are in their best moods when they are happy. We purposely wanted to have an event where people enjoy and at the same time contribute."
All the shopaholics out there, we knowu00a0 what retail therapy does to us, don't we? What you will get at the Viva Festa Christmas Bazaar is a whopping 41 stalls selling a variety of home improvement stuff besides a whole lot of knick knacks, from designer wear and trinkets to chocolates and candles, you will get it all at this bazaar.

To add to this pure, unadulterated fun, there will be beer and wine stalls to quench your parched throats.
Those who want to shimmy a little can sport their dancing shoes and learn the deep secrets behind the poise and grace of ballroom dance at Daniel Clifford's School of Latin American Dance workshop (for Rs 250 per session). There will be food stalls and a tarot card reader to keep you company and help you take a peek into the future.u00a0
Sharing that the future and health of around 150 children depend on Viva Festa Christmas Bazaar, Ajmera says, "We expect a decent turn out as it is a happy and cheerful set of programmes. Whatever you spend will go to these children."
The evening promises to end on a musical note as the jazz fusion band Megha will perform live. The band, which features Dr Suma Sudhindra and guitarist Gerard Machado, will blend the Carnatic tradition with jazz harmony and play some soul stirring numbers.
