CCasanova tempts Pune with sugar

WHAT's ON dropped in at The Bakery Shop, and found that it had something to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth

After wooing Puneiites with Italian, Kashmiri and North Indian cuisine, Ccasanova at Kalyani Nagar has now launched its Bakery Shop. It offers cakes, breads and desserts, such as cheesecake, chocolate cake, chocolate almond cake and tiramisus.

The Bakery Shop is set next to an Italian restaurant. The place is small and you often have a crowd jostling for space. It's done up in earthy browns and white, which are an extension of the colours of the breads and cakes. There is a display counter with shelves set to different temperatures to suit the product it holds.

The lower shelf has cakes and mousse, while the upper shelves have Danish breads and Croissants.

We liked: The Lavash Bread, which is an Iranian delicacy, that was served with Hummus (Rs 50). The salty, crisp bread was cut in big triangles and sprinkled with sesame seeds. We also love the Pita Bread.u00a0

Range: For the health conscious, they offer whole-wheat bread (Rs 40) and multi-grain bread (Rs 40). In the breakfast section, they have Cheese Croissants (Rs 40), Chocolate Croissants (Rs 35), Chocolate Doughnuts (Rs 30), Plain Danish Breads (Rs 30) and Muffins (Rs 25). They have salads, which are made in the Italian restaurant, and only given as a takeaway at the shop. They also have a spread of Insalata Gamberati (Rs 320), Ceasar Salad (Rs 240) and Insalata Al Gorgonzola (Rs 260).

If you are hunting for cakes, you can choose from the Tiramisu Cake (Rs 500), Chocolate Walnut Cake (Rs 400) and Strawberry Cheese Cake (Rs 450). They have desserts like Chocolate Mousse (Rs 100), Strawberry Mousse (Rs 80), brownies and pastries. They also take party orders and make puffs and designer cakes on order.
