From Blighty with Love is your chance to watch some of the best independent British films of the last 18 months, none of which have been shown on the big screen in India before
A charming twist to the Hindi word for "foreign" will bring a season of celluloid love from the UK. "Blighty" -- English for Britain -- is touted to be the next big buzzword on the lips of movie maniacs in Mumbai, thanks to an ambitious UK-India film distribution initiative by the UK Film Council. From Blighty with Love will open up for the first time, independent specialised British films to Indian audiences. The UK Film Council is the government-backed lead agency for film in the UK. Since its creation in 2000, the Council has backed more than 900 films, shorts and features, which have won over 300 awards. 
On the agenda is simultaneous screening of each film on multiple screens in 2K digital cinemas across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.u00a0 From the loss of a mother (Genova), political battles (In the Loop), or an eccentric set of in-laws (Easy Virtue), to the dedicated team passionate about reaching their goal (Man on Wire), all seven films have one thing in common: a set of characters living to the full, even in adversity. From classy literary adaptations such as Easy Virtue, to the Oscar Award-winning Man on Wire and satirical comedy In the Loop,
"the selection has something for everyone," says Joint Project Patron and Bandit Queen director Shekhar Kapur.
Add to that the stardust of British big screen talents Dame Judi Dench, Jude Law, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson, and Hollywood actors Steve Buscemi, Jessica Biel and James Gandolfini.u00a0

Singer Justin Timberlake's lady love Jessica Biel is a chic American woman in Sunday's feature, Easy Virtue. It is an adaptation of Stephan Elliott's 1920's period romantic comedy, fizzing with droll humour, pithy observations on the class system and some acidic one-liners.
