CCB sleuths have arrested a conman and a constable for duping an assistant commissioner of police.
In May 2008, Sujendra (27) called Laxman, assistantu00a0 commissioner of police, KR Puram sub-division, and introduced himself as the son-in-law of home minister V S Acharya and constable Govindaraju as the minister's gunman.
He told Laxman that Acharya wanted Govindaraju's son to be admitted at Sheshadripuarm College. "He said Acharya was funding his gunman's son's education considering his 30-year service," a police official said.
Meanwhile, Laxman was transferred to Sheshadripuram sub-division. He got a call from the same man, who now called himself the minister'su00a0 "maternal uncle'. This time, Laxman called the cheat to the station.
When the duo turned up, Laxman found that constable's son, Sharath Kumar,u00a0 had secured just 38 per cent and his father wanted a commerce seat for him.
When Laxman visited the college, the board members asked for a letter from the home minister's office. But when contacted, Acharya's personal secretary said he had no relative called Sujendra.
